Patty Skolnik, founder and director of Citizens for Patient Safety (CPS), turned personal tragedy into personal advocacy. Patty founded CPS in 2005, after the death of her only child, Michael, who underwent unnecessary brain surgery at the age of 22. She has used her personal grief to spearhead efforts that are bringing positive changes in healthcare, legislation and society.
As part of her advocacy work, Patty created a Family Healthcare Notebook to record one’s medical history, medications, vaccinations, surgeries.
